Disney PhotoPass[edit | edit source]

Disney PhotoPass is a professional photography service offered at Disney Parks and Resorts worldwide. It allows guests to have their photos taken by professional photographers at various locations throughout the parks and then view, share, and purchase these photos online or through the My Disney Experience app.

History[edit | edit source]

The Disney PhotoPass service was introduced in 2004 at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. It was designed to enhance the guest experience by providing high-quality photographic memories of their visit. The service quickly expanded to other Disney parks, including Disneyland Resort in California, Disneyland Paris, Hong Kong Disneyland, and Shanghai Disney Resort.

How It Works[edit | edit source]

Guests can have their photos taken by Disney PhotoPass photographers stationed at key locations throughout the parks, such as in front of iconic landmarks like Cinderella Castle or Sleeping Beauty Castle. After the photo is taken, the photographer will scan the guest's MagicBand, park ticket, or a PhotoPass card, which links the photos to the guest's account.

Viewing and Purchasing Photos[edit | edit source]

Photos can be viewed and purchased through the My Disney Experience app or the Disney PhotoPass website. Guests can choose to buy individual photos, photo packages, or purchase the Memory Maker option, which allows unlimited downloads of all their PhotoPass photos for a set price.

Features[edit | edit source]

  • Magic Shots: These are special photos where Disney characters or animations are digitally added to the photo after it is taken.
  • Attraction Photos: Many rides and attractions have cameras that capture guests during the experience. These photos are automatically linked to the guest's account if they are wearing a MagicBand.
  • Dining Photos: Some character dining experiences include PhotoPass photographers who capture the interactions between guests and Disney characters.

Benefits[edit | edit source]

Disney PhotoPass provides several benefits to guests:

  • Professional quality photos without the need to carry a camera.
  • Ability to be in the photo with family and friends instead of behind the camera.
  • Easy access to photos through digital platforms.

Criticism[edit | edit source]

Some guests have criticized the cost of the PhotoPass service, particularly the Memory Maker package, as being expensive. Others have noted that the quality of photos can vary depending on the photographer and location.
