Disorderlies
Disorderlies is a 1987 American comedy film directed by Michael Schultz and starring the rap group The Fat Boys: Mark Morales (Prince Markie Dee), Damon Wimbley (Kool Rock Ski), and Darren Robinson (Buff Love). The film also features performances by Ralph Bellamy, Anthony Geary, and Tony Plana. The plot revolves around the trio being hired as orderlies for a wealthy but ailing millionaire, with the hope by the millionaire's scheming nephew that their incompetence will lead to his uncle's early demise, allowing the nephew to inherit the fortune. However, the Fat Boys' genuine care and unconventional methods end up bringing joy and energy back into the millionaire's life.
Plot[edit | edit source]
The story follows Winslow Lowry (Anthony Geary), a desperate and scheming nephew who is in deep debt to a pair of loan sharks. In an attempt to accelerate his inheritance, Lowry hires the most inept and bumbling orderlies he can find, hoping they will inadvertently hasten his wealthy uncle Albert Dennison's (Ralph Bellamy) death. The orderlies, played by the members of The Fat Boys, turn out to be full of life and good intentions. Their unconventional methods and genuine care end up revitalizing Albert, much to Lowry's dismay. The film combines slapstick humor with the charm and rap music of The Fat Boys, leading to various comedic situations and ultimately thwarting Lowry's plans.

Reception[edit | edit source]
Upon its release, Disorderlies received mixed reviews from critics, who often praised the energy and comedic timing of The Fat Boys but criticized the film's predictable plot and sometimes slapdash direction. Despite the critical reception, the film has gained a cult following over the years, particularly among fans of The Fat Boys and enthusiasts of 1980s comedies.
Legacy[edit | edit source]

It remains a nostalgic piece for those who appreciate the blend of music and comedy from that period.
