Distad
Distad is a term used in anatomy and zoology to describe a position or direction that is away from the center of the body or from the point of attachment. It is often used in contrast to the term proximad, which refers to a position or direction that is closer to the center of the body or the point of attachment.
Usage in Anatomy[edit | edit source]
In anatomy, the term "distad" is commonly used to describe the location of structures in relation to each other. For example, the fingers are distad to the wrist, meaning they are further away from the center of the body compared to the wrist.
Usage in Zoology[edit | edit source]
In zoology, "distad" is used similarly to describe the position of anatomical features in animals. For instance, the tail of a fish is distad to its head, indicating that the tail is further away from the central part of the body.
