Dominick DeLuise, better known as Dom DeLuise, was an American actor, comedian, and director. He was known for his work in film, television, and stage, as well as his collaborations with fellow comedians such as Mel Brooks and Burt Reynolds.

Early Life and Career[edit | edit source]

Dom DeLuise was born on August 1, 1933 in Brooklyn, New York. He began his career in entertainment as a comedian and actor, performing in clubs and on television shows in the 1960s. He quickly became known for his ability to play a variety of characters, from lovable buffoons to sinister villains.

Film and Television Career[edit | edit source]

DeLuise's film career began in the late 1960s, when he appeared in small roles in films such as "What's So Bad About Feeling Good?" and "The Twelve Chairs." He soon began collaborating with Mel Brooks, appearing in several of his films including "Blazing Saddles," "Spaceballs," and "Robin Hood: Men in Tights."

DeLuise also worked with Burt Reynolds on several films, including "The Cannonball Run," "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas," and "Smokey and the Bandit II." He also appeared in numerous television shows, including "The Dean Martin Show," "The Carol Burnett Show," and "The Muppet Show."

DeLuise continued to work in entertainment throughout the 1990s and 2000s, appearing in films such as "All Dogs Go to Heaven" and "The Secret of NIMH 2: Timmy to the Rescue." He also directed several films, including "Fatso" and "Haunted Honeymoon."

DeLuise was known not only for his talent as a comedian and actor, but also for his warm personality and generosity. He passed away on May 4, 2009 at the age of 75, leaving behind a legacy of laughter and joy.
