Dr. Praeger's
Dr. Praeger's is a New Jersey-based frozen food company that specializes in vegetarian and vegan products. The company was founded in 1994 by two practicing cardiologists, Dr. Peter Praeger and Dr. Eric Somberg, who aimed to create a line of food that promotes a healthy lifestyle.
History[edit | edit source]
Dr. Praeger's was established in 1994 after the founders, Dr. Peter Praeger and Dr. Eric Somberg, acquired the Ungar's Gefilte Fish company. The doctors, who were both practicing cardiologists, saw a need for healthier, easy-to-prepare food options. They began by reformulating the gefilte fish recipe to make it healthier and then expanded their product line to include a variety of vegetarian and vegan options.
Products[edit | edit source]
Dr. Praeger's offers a wide range of products, including veggie burgers, veggie puffs, veggie cakes, veggie nuggets, and veggie sausages. All of their products are made with simple, recognizable ingredients and are free from artificial flavors, colors, and preservatives. Many of their products are also gluten-free and Non-GMO Project verified.
Sustainability[edit | edit source]
Dr. Praeger's is committed to sustainability and aims to minimize its environmental impact. The company sources its ingredients from sustainable farms and uses recyclable packaging. In addition, Dr. Praeger's operates its own manufacturing facility, which allows it to control its energy use and waste production.
Recognition[edit | edit source]
Dr. Praeger's has received numerous awards and recognitions for its products. The company's California Veggie Burger, for example, has been named the best-tasting veggie burger by several publications, including Good Housekeeping and Men's Health.
