Dubu-kimchi[edit | edit source]

Dubu-kimchi is a traditional Korean dish that combines two popular ingredients: dubu (tofu) and kimchi. It is a flavorful and nutritious dish that is loved by many Koreans and has gained popularity worldwide.

Ingredients[edit | edit source]

To make dubu-kimchi, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 1 block of firm tofu
  • 1 cup of kimchi
  • 2 tablespoons of gochujang (Korean red chili paste)
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon of toasted sesame seeds

Preparation[edit | edit source]

1. Start by draining the tofu. Place the tofu block on a plate lined with paper towels and place another plate on top. Put something heavy on the top plate to press the tofu and remove excess water. Let it sit for about 15 minutes.

2. While the tofu is draining, prepare the kimchi. Chop the kimchi into small pieces and set it aside.

3. In a small bowl, mix together the gochujang, soy sauce, sesame oil, and sugar to make the sauce.

4. Once the tofu is drained, cut it into bite-sized cubes.

5. Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and add the tofu cubes. Cook them until they turn golden brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.

6. Add the chopped kimchi to the pan with the tofu and stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes.

7. Pour the sauce over the tofu and kimchi mixture and stir well to coat everything evenly. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.

8. Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions and toasted sesame seeds.

Serving[edit | edit source]

Dubu-kimchi can be served as a main dish or as a side dish. It is often enjoyed with a bowl of steamed rice and other Korean side dishes like banchan. The combination of the spicy and tangy kimchi with the soft and creamy tofu creates a delicious and satisfying meal.
