Dubuque is a city in Dubuque County, Iowa, United States. Located along the Mississippi River, it is the county seat of Dubuque County and the primary city of the Dubuque, Iowa metropolitan area. As of the 2020 census, the population of Dubuque was 59,667.

Dubuque is one of the oldest settlements in Iowa, with a history dating back to the early 19th century. The city was named after Julien Dubuque, a French-Canadian fur trader who settled in the area in the late 18th century. Dubuque was officially incorporated in 1833, making it one of the first cities in Iowa.
Geography[edit | edit source]
Dubuque is situated along the Mississippi River, which forms the eastern border of the city. The city is characterized by its rolling hills, bluffs, and riverfront. The Julien Dubuque Bridge connects Dubuque to East Dubuque, Illinois.
