EPCOT

EPCOT is a theme park located at the Walt Disney World Resort in Bay Lake, Florida. It is owned and operated by The Walt Disney Company through its Parks, Experiences and Products division. EPCOT opened on October 1, 1982, and was the second theme park built at the resort, following the Magic Kingdom.

EPCOT was originally conceived by Walt Disney as the "Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow," a utopian city of the future that would serve as a testbed for new ideas in urban living. After Disney's death in 1966, the concept evolved into a theme park that would showcase technology and international culture.
The park was designed by Walt Disney Imagineering and was initially divided into two main sections: Future World and World Showcase.
Future World[edit | edit source]
Future World focuses on technological advancements and innovation. It features several pavilions, each dedicated to a different aspect of technology and science. Notable attractions include:
- Spaceship Earth: A geodesic sphere that serves as the park's iconic symbol and houses a ride that explores the history of communication.
- The Land: A pavilion that explores agriculture and the environment, featuring attractions like "Living with the Land" and "Soarin' Around the World."
- The Seas with Nemo & Friends: An aquarium and ride that explores marine life.
World Showcase[edit | edit source]
World Showcase is a collection of pavilions that represent 11 countries from around the world. Each pavilion features architecture, attractions, and dining experiences that reflect the culture of the respective country. The countries represented are:

EPCOT hosts several annual festivals that celebrate food, art, and culture. These include:
- EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival
- EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival
- EPCOT International Festival of the Arts
- EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays
Recent Developments[edit | edit source]
In recent years, EPCOT has undergone significant renovations and expansions. New attractions and experiences have been added, such as "Remy's Ratatouille Adventure" in the France pavilion and "Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind" in the Future World section.
