East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust is an NHS trust that was formed in April 2000 through the merger of the former East Hertfordshire and North Hertfordshire NHS trusts. The trust operates several hospitals including Lister Hospital, Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, New QEII Hospital, Hertford County Hospital, Bedford Dialysis Unit, and Harlow Renal Unit.

In September 2013, the trust took over the Lister Surgicentre from Clinicenta, a subsidiary of Carillion, after it received severe criticism from the Care Quality Commission and local MPs. The revenue cost of the takeover was £2.3 million, with the Department of Health paying £53 million for the premises.

The trust achieved its best performance during 2010/11, meeting national clinical, operational, and financial standards. Patients experienced shorter wait times, reduced cancellations, improved infection control, and a wider range of clinical services.

Performance[edit | edit source]

The trust's performance in the emergency department has been monitored using the four-hour target. Data from NHS England shows that the trust has consistently met this target.
