Eduardo D. Rodriguez
Eduardo D. Rodriguez is an American plastic surgeon known for his expertise in facial transplantation and reconstructive surgery. He is currently the chair of the Hansjörg Wyss Department of Plastic Surgery at NYU Langone Health.
Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]
Rodriguez was born in Miami, Florida. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Florida, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology and cell science. He then attended the Medical College of Virginia, where he received his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. Rodriguez also holds a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the New York University College of Dentistry.

Rodriguez began his career in plastic surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he completed his residency. He later joined the faculty at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where he became the head of the facial transplantation program. In 2013, he performed the most extensive facial transplant at the time, which included the replacement of the patient's entire face, upper and lower jaws, teeth, and tongue.
In 2014, Rodriguez joined NYU Langone Health as the chair of the Hansjörg Wyss Department of Plastic Surgery. Under his leadership, the department has become a leading center for facial transplantation and reconstructive surgery.
