Efigenio Ameijeiras
Efigenio Ameijeiras Delgado (born September 21, 1931) is a prominent Cuban revolutionary and military figure. He is best known for his role in the Cuban Revolution and his subsequent contributions to the development of the Cuban Armed Forces.
Early Life[edit | edit source]
Efigenio Ameijeiras was born in Puerto Padre, a municipality in the Las Tunas Province of Cuba. He grew up in a modest family and was exposed to the political turmoil and social inequalities that characterized pre-revolutionary Cuba.
Revolutionary Activities[edit | edit source]
Ameijeiras became involved in revolutionary activities at a young age. He joined the 26th of July Movement, a revolutionary organization led by Fidel Castro that aimed to overthrow the Fulgencio Batista dictatorship. Ameijeiras participated in several key operations, including the attack on the Moncada Barracks in 1953, which, although unsuccessful, marked the beginning of the Cuban Revolution.
Role in the Cuban Revolution[edit | edit source]
During the Cuban Revolution, Ameijeiras played a significant role in the guerrilla warfare tactics employed by the revolutionaries. He was a close associate of Che Guevara and Camilo Cienfuegos, and he participated in numerous battles against Batista's forces. His leadership and bravery earned him a prominent position within the revolutionary ranks.

After the success of the Cuban Revolution in 1959, Ameijeiras continued to serve in the newly established government.
