Someone suffering from this extreme egocentric focus is an egomaniac. The condition is psychologically abnormal.

- Excessive preoccupation with personal power and prestige
- Extreme lack of empathy
- Feelings of superiority
- Obsession with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
- Belief of being unique and only understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people or institutions
- Need for excessive admiration
- Sense of entitlement
- Willingness to take advantage of others to achieve personal goals
- Envious of others or believes others are envious of them
- Arrogant behaviors or attitudes
Causes[edit | edit source]
The exact cause of egomania is unknown, but it is believed to be a combination of genetic and environmental factors. It is also associated with a number of other mental health conditions, including narcissistic personality disorder, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia.
Treatment[edit | edit source]
Treatment for egomania often involves psychotherapy, specifically cognitive behavioral therapy. Medication may also be used to manage associated conditions or symptoms.
