Elmhurst 1925

From WikiMD's Food, Medicine & Wellness Encyclopedia

Elmhurst 1925 is a plant-based milk company based in Elma, New York. The company was originally established as a dairy company in 1925, but transitioned to producing plant-based milks in 2017.

History[edit | edit source]

Elmhurst 1925 was originally founded as the Elmhurst Dairy in 1925 by Max and Arthur Schwartz. The dairy was a staple in New York City, providing milk to thousands of customers for over 90 years. In 2016, the dairy closed its doors due to declining milk sales and increased operating costs.

In 2017, the Schwartz family decided to reinvent the company and focus on plant-based milks. They rebranded the company as Elmhurst 1925 and began producing a variety of plant-based milks, including almond milk, oat milk, and hazelnut milk.

Products[edit | edit source]

Elmhurst 1925 offers a variety of plant-based milks, each made with minimal ingredients. Their product line includes almond milk, oat milk, hazelnut milk, cashew milk, and walnut milk. They also offer a line of barista milks, designed to froth and steam like traditional dairy milk for use in coffee and espresso drinks.

Sustainability[edit | edit source]

Elmhurst 1925 is committed to sustainability. They use a unique process called HydroRelease™ to separate the components of a nut, grain, or seed before reassembling them as a creamy, beverage-ready emulsion, maintaining the full nutrition of the source ingredient without the use of added gums or emulsifiers.
