Emmonak is a city located in the Kusilvak Census Area, in the state of Alaska, United States. It is situated on the north bank of the Yukon River, near its mouth, approximately 10 miles from the Bering Sea.

The area around Emmonak has been inhabited by the Yup'ik people for thousands of years. The name "Emmonak" is derived from the Yup'ik word "Imangaq," which means "blackfish." The city was established as a permanent settlement in the early 20th century and has grown steadily since then.

Emmonak is located at coordinates 62°46′N 164°32′W. The city covers a total area of 8.6 square miles, of which 7.5 square miles is land and 1.1 square miles is water. The region experiences a subarctic climate, characterized by long, cold winters and short, mild summers.

As of the 2020 census, Emmonak had a population of approximately 800 residents. The majority of the population is of Yup'ik descent, and the community maintains a strong cultural heritage. The primary languages spoken are English and Central Alaskan Yup'ik.

The economy of Emmonak is largely based on subsistence activities, including fishing, hunting, and gathering. The Yukon River provides a vital source of salmon, which is a staple food for the community.
