In quantitative research, empirical evidence is gathered through quantitative surveys, which are then statistically analyzed. In qualitative research, the methods include focus groups, in-depth interviews, and reviews of documents for types of themes.

Quantitative Research[edit]

Quantitative research is empirical research where the data are in the form of numbers. Quantitative research is used for testing and validating already constructed theories about how and why phenomena occur.

Qualitative Research[edit]

Qualitative research is empirical research where the data are not in the form of numbers. Qualitative research is used to understand concepts, thoughts or experiences.
