Engen Petroleum is a South African oil company that focuses on the downstream refined petroleum products market and related businesses. The company is a subsidiary of Petronas, the Malaysian national oil company. Engen operates in various African countries and the Indian Ocean Islands.

Engen Petroleum was established in 1881 as Vacuum Oil, a branch of the American company Standard Oil. In 1954, the company was renamed Mobil Oil Southern Africa. In 1989, Mobil disinvested from South Africa, and the company was acquired by the South African state-owned company Sasol. It was subsequently renamed Engen Petroleum in 1990. In 1998, Petronas acquired a 30% stake in Engen, and by 2000, Petronas had become the majority shareholder.
