Entebbe is a city located in Uganda, situated on the northern shores of Lake Victoria, Africa's largest lake. It is approximately 37 kilometers southwest of the capital city, Kampala. Entebbe is known for its historical significance, natural beauty, and as the location of Uganda's main international airport.

Entebbe has a rich history that dates back to the colonial era. It was the administrative and commercial center of the British protectorate of Uganda until 1962, when the capital was moved to Kampala. The name "Entebbe" is derived from a Luganda word meaning "seat" or "chair," which refers to a place where a chief sat to adjudicate legal cases.

In 1976, Entebbe gained international attention due to the Operation Entebbe, a successful counter-terrorist hostage-rescue mission carried out by the Israel Defense Forces at Entebbe International Airport.
