Eric Lamont was born in 1955 in Kingston, Jamaica. From a young age, he was exposed to the rich musical culture of his homeland, which would later influence his career in music. The nickname "Bingy Bunny" was given to him in his youth, a moniker under which he would become famous.

Bingy Bunny's career began in the early 1970s when he started playing guitar for various bands and recording sessions in Kingston. His unique playing style, characterized by a rhythmic chopping technique and melodic bass lines, quickly made him a sought-after musician in the reggae scene.

He became a founding member of the Roots Radics, a band that played a crucial role in the evolution of reggae music. The Roots Radics became known for their work with producer Henry "Junjo" Lawes, backing hits for artists like Barrington Levy, Gregory Isaacs, and Eek-A-Mouse. Their sound was instrumental in the transition from roots reggae to the dancehall era of the 1980s.

In addition to his work with the Roots Radics, Bingy Bunny also formed the duo Morwells with Maurice "Blacka" Wellington. The Morwells produced several hits and were known for their harmonious vocals and roots reggae sound. Their albums, including "Presenting the Morwells" and "Dub Me," are considered classics in the reggae genre.
