Cassell has also been a vocal advocate for the importance of communication in the doctor-patient relationship. He believes that understanding the patient's experience and perspective is crucial for effective medical care. His work emphasizes the need for physicians to develop skills in listening and empathy to better address the holistic needs of their patients.
