Evening

Evening is the period of time at the end of the day, usually from about 6 p.m. to bedtime. It is a daily astronomic event of variable time period between daytime and night, and the period is often used for relaxation, entertainment and sleep. The term comes from the Old English ǣfnung, meaning 'the coming of evening, sunset, time around sunset', which originated from æfnian meaning 'become evening, grow toward evening'.

The exact times when evening begins and ends depend on location, time of year, and culture, but it is generally regarded as beginning when the sun sets and ending when it is completely dark outside. In many cultures, this time of day is reserved for rest, relaxation, and preparation for the next day.
