ExPASy (Expert Protein Analysis System) is a bioinformatics resource portal operated by the SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics and in particular the SIB Bioinformatics Resource Portal providing access to scientific databases and software tools in different areas of life sciences.

ExPASy is an extensible and integrative portal accessing many scientific resources, databases and software tools in different areas of life sciences. Scientists can hence find a wealth of information in one single place, including protein sequence and molecular structure databases, proteomics, genomics, phylogeny, systems biology, population genetics, transcriptomics etc.

ExPASy was established in August 1993 and was the first website dedicated to molecular biology. Originally it was an enzyme database and was called Expert Protein Analysis System. Over the years, it has evolved to become a portal to many important databases and software tools in various fields of life sciences.
