Fabio Ongaro
Fabio Ongaro (born September 23, 1977) is a retired Italian rugby union player and current coach. He played as a hooker and is known for his contributions to the Italy national rugby union team and various club teams throughout his career.
Early Life[edit | edit source]
Fabio Ongaro was born in Mogliano Veneto, a town in the province of Treviso, Italy. He began playing rugby at a young age and quickly showed promise in the sport.
Club Career[edit | edit source]
Ongaro started his professional rugby career with Benetton Treviso, one of the most successful rugby clubs in Italy. During his time with Benetton Treviso, he won multiple Italian Championships and established himself as a key player.
In 2006, Ongaro moved to Saracens, a prominent rugby club in the English Premiership. He played for Saracens until 2010, contributing significantly to the team's performance in domestic and European competitions.
After his stint with Saracens, Ongaro returned to Italy to play for Aironi Rugby, a team that competed in the Celtic League (now known as the United Rugby Championship). He played with Aironi until the team was disbanded in 2012.
International Career[edit | edit source]
Fabio Ongaro earned his first cap for the Italy national rugby union team in 2000. Over his international career, he earned over 80 caps and participated in several Six Nations Championships and Rugby World Cup tournaments. Ongaro was known for his leadership on the field and his skills in the set-piece, particularly in the line-out and scrum.

After retiring from professional play, Ongaro transitioned into coaching. He has been involved in coaching various teams, sharing his extensive knowledge and experience in rugby.
Personal Life[edit | edit source]
Fabio Ongaro is married and has children. He remains active in the rugby community and is involved in various initiatives to promote the sport in Italy.
