The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Malaya was founded in response to the growing need for medical professionals in Malaysia. The faculty was initially located at the University of Malaya's original campus in Singapore before moving to its current location in Kuala Lumpur following the university's split into two separate entities in 1962.
