- Fairbury is a city located in the state of Nebraska, United States. It is the county seat of Jefferson County, and is known for its rich history and small-town charm. The city was founded in 1869 and has a population of approximately 3,942 as of the 2010 census.

- Fairbury was platted in 1869 when the railroad was extended to that point. The city was named after Fairbury, Illinois, the native home of a first settler. Fairbury has been the county seat of Jefferson County since the county's organization in 1871.

- Fairbury is located at 40°8′31″N 97°10′31″W. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.21 square miles (5.72 km2), all land.
