Federation of Veterinarians of Europe

The Federation of Veterinarians of Europe (FVE) is a non-profit organization that represents the veterinary profession in Europe. It aims to promote animal health, animal welfare, and public health across the continent.

The Federation of Veterinarians of Europe was established in 1975. It was created to provide a unified voice for veterinarians in Europe and to address common issues faced by the profession. Over the years, the FVE has grown to include veterinary organizations from across Europe.

Structure[edit | edit source]

The FVE is composed of several sections and working groups that focus on different aspects of veterinary medicine. These include the European Veterinary Dental Society, the European Association of Zoo and Wildlife Veterinarians, and the European College of Veterinary Public Health, among others.

General Assembly[edit | edit source]

The General Assembly is the highest decision-making body of the FVE. It consists of representatives from all member organizations and meets twice a year to discuss and decide on key issues.

Board of Directors[edit | edit source]

The Board of Directors is responsible for the day-to-day management of the FVE. It is elected by the General Assembly and consists of a President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and other members.

Objectives[edit | edit source]

The main objectives of the FVE are to:

  • Promote animal health and welfare
  • Ensure the quality of veterinary education and services
  • Advocate for the veterinary profession at the European level
  • Facilitate the exchange of information and best practices among veterinarians

Activities[edit | edit source]

The FVE engages in a variety of activities to achieve its objectives. These include organizing conferences and workshops, publishing guidelines and position papers, and collaborating with other organizations such as the World Organisation for Animal Health and the European Commission.

Membership[edit | edit source]

Membership in the FVE is open to national veterinary organizations from European countries. The FVE currently has over 40 member organizations, representing more than 200,000 veterinarians across Europe.
