Wine Production[edit | edit source]
The vineyards of Flagey-Echézeaux are renowned for producing some of the world's most prestigious and expensive wines. The commune is home to two Grand Cru vineyards, Grands Echézeaux and Echézeaux. These vineyards are planted primarily with Pinot noir grapes, which are used to produce rich, complex wines with a great aging potential.
Grands Echézeaux[edit | edit source]
The Grands Echézeaux vineyard covers an area of 9.14 hectares and is located in the northern part of the commune. The wines produced here are known for their depth, complexity, and longevity. They typically exhibit flavors of black cherry, blackberry, and spice, with a firm tannic structure and a long, lingering finish.
Echézeaux[edit | edit source]
The Echézeaux vineyard is larger than Grands Echézeaux, covering an area of 37.69 hectares. The wines from this vineyard are slightly less concentrated than those from Grands Echézeaux, but they are still highly regarded for their elegance and balance. They typically exhibit flavors of red cherry, raspberry, and spice, with a medium tannic structure and a long, elegant finish.
