Flake (chocolate)

The Flake is a chocolate bar produced by Cadbury. It was first developed in the UK in 1920. The product is known for its unique, crumbly texture and is marketed under the slogan, "The crumbliest, flakiest milk chocolate".

History[edit | edit source]

The Flake chocolate bar was first developed in 1920 by an employee of Cadbury's who noticed that when the excess from the moulds used to create other chocolates was drained off, it fell off in a stream and created flaky, folded chocolate. This observation led to the creation of the Flake chocolate bar.

Product Description[edit | edit source]

The Flake bar is made from milk chocolate and is distinctive for its flaky, crumbly texture. It is made by a process where the chocolate is built up in layers, which creates the flaky texture. The bar is typically sold in a yellow wrapper, with the product name written in red.

Variations[edit | edit source]

Over the years, several variations of the Flake bar have been produced. These include the Flake Dipped, which is the original Flake coated in milk chocolate, and the Flake Dark, which is made from dark chocolate. There is also the Flake Snow, which is a white chocolate version of the bar, and the Flake Praline, which includes a layer of praline.

In Popular Culture[edit | edit source]

The Flake has been featured in various forms of media and advertising. It is particularly known for its "Flake Girl" advertising campaign, which ran from the 1950s to the 2000s. The campaign featured a series of women enjoying a Flake in various settings.
