Flanders
Flanders is a region located in the northern part of Belgium. It is one of the three main regions of the country, along with Wallonia and the Brussels-Capital Region. Flanders is primarily Dutch-speaking, and it is home to a significant portion of the Belgian population.
Geography[edit | edit source]
Flanders is bordered by the North Sea to the west, the Netherlands to the north, Wallonia to the south, and France to the west. The region is characterized by its flat landscape, which is part of the North European Plain. The highest point in Flanders is the Kemmelberg, which stands at 159 meters above sea level.

The history of Flanders dates back to the Middle Ages, when it was a prosperous region known for its cloth industry. The region was part of the Holy Roman Empire before becoming part of the Kingdom of Belgium in 1830.
