The Food and Drug Administration (FDA; Chinese: 食品藥物管理署) is an agency of the Taiwanese government under the Ministry of Health and Welfare. The FDA is responsible for ensuring the safety, efficacy, and quality of food, drugs, medical devices, and cosmetics in Taiwan.

The FDA was established on January 1, 2010, following the merger of the Bureau of Food Safety, the Bureau of Pharmaceutical Affairs, and the Bureau of Food and Drug Analysis. This consolidation aimed to streamline regulatory processes and improve the efficiency of food and drug safety management in Taiwan.
Responsibilities[edit | edit source]
The FDA's primary responsibilities include:
- Regulating the safety and quality of food products.
- Ensuring the efficacy and safety of pharmaceuticals and medical devices.
- Overseeing the safety and labeling of cosmetics.
- Conducting inspections and surveillance of manufacturing facilities.
- Implementing and enforcing food and drug laws and regulations.
- Promoting public health through education and outreach programs.
