Franco Ziliani

Franco Ziliani (born 1929) is an Italian winemaker and the founder of the renowned Franciacorta wine region. He is widely recognized for his contributions to the development of sparkling wine in Italy, particularly through his work with the Berlucchi winery.

Franco Ziliani was born in 1929 in Italy. He developed an interest in winemaking at a young age and pursued studies in oenology.

In the 1950s, Ziliani began working with Guido Berlucchi, a nobleman who owned vineyards in the Franciacorta region. Together, they aimed to create a high-quality sparkling wine that could rival the best Champagne from France. Their collaboration led to the creation of the first bottle of Franciacorta in 1961.
