- Freeburg is a charming village located in St. Clair County, Illinois, United States. The village is part of the Metro-East region and the Greater St. Louis metropolitan area. As of the 2010 census, the village population was 4,354. Freeburg is known for its rich history, friendly community, and excellent school system.

- Freeburg was originally known as "Doe Run" by the French settlers who established it in the early 19th century. It was later renamed Freeburg after the German town of Freiburg, from where many of its early settlers hailed.

- Freeburg is located at 38°25′34″N 89°54′26″W. The village has a total area of 2.78 square miles, all land.
