Fresh Meadows is a residential neighborhood located in the northeastern section of Queens, one of the five boroughs of New York City. It is bordered by several other Queens neighborhoods, including Flushing, Hillcrest, and Utopia. The neighborhood is known for its diverse population, quality public schools, and ample green spaces.

Fresh Meadows was originally part of the territory inhabited by the Matinecock Native American tribe. The area was later settled by the Dutch and English in the 17th century. The name "Fresh Meadows" comes from the description given by early settlers due to the swampy meadows found in the area.

In the 20th century, Fresh Meadows underwent significant development. The New York Life Insurance Company built the Fresh Meadows Housing Development, a planned community, in the 1940s. The development was designed to provide affordable housing for World War II veterans and their families.

Fresh Meadows is known for its diverse population. The neighborhood is home to a large number of Asian Americans, particularly those of Chinese and Korean descent. There are also significant numbers of Jewish, Greek, and Hispanic residents.

Fresh Meadows is served by several bus lines operated by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. The neighborhood is also easily accessible by car, with the Long Island Expressway and the Grand Central Parkway running nearby.

Several notable individuals have resided in Fresh Meadows, including actor Christopher Walken and former New York City Mayor John Lindsay.
