Freweini Mebrahtu was born in Ethiopia in 1970. She pursued her higher education in the United States, where she studied chemical engineering at Prairie View A&M University in Texas. After completing her studies, Mebrahtu returned to Ethiopia with a vision to address the challenges faced by women and girls in managing their menstrual health.
