GRB7
GRB7
GRB7 is a gene that encodes a protein known as growth factor receptor-bound protein 7. This protein plays a crucial role in various cellular processes, including cell growth, proliferation, and survival. The GRB7 gene is located on chromosome 17 in humans.
Function[edit | edit source]
The GRB7 protein is a signaling adaptor protein that interacts with various receptor tyrosine kinases, such as the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and the HER2 receptor. By binding to these receptors, GRB7 can activate downstream signaling pathways that regulate cell growth and survival.
Clinical Significance[edit | edit source]
Abnormalities in the GRB7 gene have been associated with various types of cancer, including breast cancer and gastric cancer. Overexpression of GRB7 has been linked to tumor progression and poor prognosis in cancer patients. Targeting GRB7 signaling pathways may offer potential therapeutic strategies for cancer treatment.
Interactions[edit | edit source]
GRB7 interacts with several other proteins involved in cell signaling, including the insulin receptor substrate 1 (IRS1) and the focal adhesion kinase (FAK). These interactions play a role in regulating cell adhesion, migration, and invasion.
