(Galp) is a Portuguese energy company with activities spanning across the entire energy value chain, from exploration and production of oil and natural gas to refining and marketing of petroleum products, natural gas marketing and sales, and power generation. History

Galp Energia's origins trace back to the early 20th century with the creation of Sociedade Portuguesa de Petróleos (SPP), a company focused on the distribution and marketing of petroleum products in Portugal. Over the decades, through mergers and acquisitions, Galp evolved into a vertically integrated energy company. The Portuguese government held a significant stake in the company until the early 21st century when Galp was partially privatized, leading to a diversification of its shareholder base.

Operations

Galp's operations are divided into four core segments: Exploration & Production (E&P), Refining & Marketing (R&M), Gas & Power (G&P), and Renewables.

Exploration & Production

The E&P segment is focused on the exploration, development, and production of oil and natural gas. Galp has a significant presence in Brazil and Angola, where it holds stakes in offshore oil and gas fields. The company is also involved in exploration activities in other countries, aiming to increase its reserves and production levels.

Refining & Marketing

Galp operates two refineries in Portugal, which have a combined processing capacity.
