History[edit | edit source]

Gambero Rosso was founded in 1986 as a food and wine insert in the Italian newspaper Il Manifesto. In 1999, Gambero Rosso became a standalone company and expanded its activities to include television, publishing, and events.

Publications[edit | edit source]

Gambero Rosso is best known for its annual wine guide, Vini d'Italia, which rates Italian wines using a "Tre Bicchieri" (Three Glasses) system. Wines that receive the "Tre Bicchieri" award are considered to be of exceptional quality. In addition to the wine guide, Gambero Rosso publishes guides on restaurants, bars, and other aspects of Italian gastronomy.
