George Kingsley (14 April 1826 – 5 February 1892) was an English physician and travel writer, known for his extensive travels and contributions to literature. He was the father of the renowned novelist Charles Kingsley.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

George Kingsley was born in London, England, into a family with a strong literary and academic background. He was the son of the Reverend Charles Kingsley, a clergyman, and Mary Lucas Kingsley. His brother, Henry Kingsley, was also a noted novelist. George was educated at King's College London and later attended Trinity College, Cambridge, where he studied medicine.

After completing his education, Kingsley pursued a career in medicine. He became a physician and was known for his dedication to the field. His medical practice was primarily based in London, where he served a diverse clientele.
