Georgetown University Medical Center
Georgetown University Medical Center is a biomedical research and educational organization that is responsible for over 80% of Georgetown University's sponsored research funding. It is located in Washington, DC and is led by Edward B. Healton, MD, the Executive Vice President for Health Sciences and Executive Dean of the School of Medicine.
The medical center consists of four sectors: the Georgetown University School of Medicine, the School of Nursing and Health Studies, the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the Biomedical Graduate Research Organization.
The Georgetown University School of Medicine was founded in 1851 and is committed to educating medical students in the spirit of the Jesuit ideal of cura personalis, or "care of the whole person.
" It is ranked among the top 50 medical schools in the country.
The School of Nursing and Health Studies is one of the four undergraduate schools at Georgetown University and offers various academic programs in healthcare. It also has several graduate programs, including the Nurse Anesthesia program, which is ranked sixth in the nation.
