Giordano's

From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

Giordano's is a renowned pizzeria chain that is famous for its Chicago-style pizza, particularly its stuffed pizza. The chain was founded in 1974 by brothers Efren and Joseph Boglio in Chicago, Illinois. The Boglio brothers, originally from Torino, Italy, introduced their mother's stuffed pizza recipe to the American market, which quickly gained popularity and became a staple of Chicago's food culture.

History[edit | edit source]

The Boglio brothers opened the first Giordano's pizzeria in 1974 on the south side of Chicago. The restaurant was named after their mother's favorite opera singer, Giordano. The brothers wanted to introduce a new kind of pizza to the American market, and they decided to use their mother's recipe for stuffed pizza, a dish that was popular in their hometown of Torino.

The stuffed pizza quickly became a hit, and Giordano's started to expand. Today, Giordano's has over 70 locations, most of them in the Chicago metropolitan area, but also in other states such as Florida, Nevada, and Indiana.

Menu[edit | edit source]

Giordano's menu primarily consists of its famous stuffed pizza, but it also offers thin-crust pizza, pasta, salads, sandwiches, and desserts. The stuffed pizza is made with a layer of dough on the bottom, followed by cheese and toppings, another layer of dough, and finally topped with tomato sauce. This unique construction sets it apart from other styles of pizza and has made it a favorite among both locals and tourists.

Reception[edit | edit source]

Giordano's has received numerous accolades for its pizza. It has been named "Chicago's Best Pizza" by NBC, CBS, and the New York Times, and has also been featured on national television shows such as Food Network's "Pizza Wars" and Travel Channel's "Man v. Food".
