Giovanni
Giovanni is a common male Italian given name (in English John). It is the Italian equivalent of John. Giovanni is frequently contracted to Gio, particularly in the name Giovanni Giorgio (John George).

The name Giovanni is derived from the Hebrew name Yohanan, which means "Yahweh is gracious". The name has been widely used in Italy since the Middle Ages, and it was the most common name for boys in Italy in the 20th century.
