Gone Nutty

Gone Nutty is a computer-animated short film produced by Blue Sky Studios. It was released in 2002 and is a spin-off of the Ice Age series. The short film features the character Scrat, a saber-toothed squirrel, who is also a prominent character in the Ice Age films.

Plot

The story follows Scrat as he attempts to store his collection of acorns for the winter. As he tries to place the last acorn into his already overstuffed tree, the acorn gets stuck. Scrat's efforts to free the acorn result in a series of comedic mishaps, ultimately causing the tree to explode and send acorns flying everywhere. The short ends with Scrat being launched into the air, clinging to his precious acorn.

Production

Gone Nutty was directed by Carlos Saldanha, who also co-directed the first Ice Age film. The short was produced by John C. Donkin and Lori Forte. The animation was done by Blue Sky Studios, known for their work on the Ice Age series and other animated films.

Reception

Gone Nutty was well-received by audiences and critics alike. It was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film in 2003. The short is praised for its humor, animation quality, and the character of Scrat, who has become a fan favorite.
