The Government of Kerala is the supreme governing authority of the Indian state of Kerala and its 14 districts. It consists of an executive, led by the Governor of Kerala, a judiciary, and a legislative branch.

Executive[edit | edit source]

The Governor of Kerala is the constitutional head of state, and the Chief Minister of Kerala is the head of government. The executive branch is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the state and is headed by the Chief Minister of Kerala, who is supported by a council of ministers.

Governor[edit | edit source]

The Governor of Kerala is appointed by the President of India for a five-year term. The Governor acts as the representative of the President of India in the state and has various ceremonial duties.

Chief Minister and Council of Ministers[edit | edit source]

The Chief Minister of Kerala is the leader of the majority party in the Kerala Legislative Assembly and is appointed by the Governor. The Chief Minister, along with the council of ministers, is responsible for the administration of the state.

Legislature[edit | edit source]

The Kerala Legislative Assembly is the unicameral legislature of the state. It consists of 140 members who are elected by the people of Kerala. The assembly is responsible for making laws and policies for the state.

Judiciary[edit | edit source]

The Kerala High Court is the highest judicial authority in the state. It has jurisdiction over the entire state of Kerala and the Union Territory of Lakshadweep. The High Court is responsible for interpreting the constitution and laws of the state.

Administrative Divisions[edit | edit source]

Kerala is divided into 14 districts, each headed by a District Collector. The districts are further divided into taluks and villages for administrative purposes.
