Guido Bertolaso 2009




Guido Bertolaso (born March 20, 1950) is an Italian physician and government official. He is best known for his role as the head of the Italian Civil Protection Department from 2001 to 2010.

Guido Bertolaso was born in Rome, Italy. He pursued his medical degree at the Sapienza University of Rome, where he specialized in tropical medicine and public health.

During his tenure, he managed numerous emergency situations, including natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, and wildfires. His leadership was particularly noted during the 2009 L'Aquila earthquake, where he coordinated rescue and relief efforts.
