Hartford County is located in the north-central part of the state of Connecticut. It is the second most populous county in Connecticut, with a population of approximately 895,388 according to the 2010 census. The county was named after Hertford, England, and is one of four original counties in Connecticut that were established on May 10, 1666, by an act of the Connecticut General Court.
