Health and wellness are holistic terms that refer to the physical, mental, and social well-being of an individual. Wellness, on the other hand, involves the conscious, self-directed, and evolving process of achieving full potential in various aspects of life.

This definition highlights the multifaceted nature of health, which includes not just the body's physical condition but also the mental and social aspects of life.
Wellness is often described as the act of practicing healthy habits on a daily basis to attain better physical and mental health outcomes, so that instead of just surviving, you’re thriving. It is typically divided into several dimensions, including physical, emotional, intellectual, social, spiritual, and occupational wellness, each contributing to overall health and quality of life.

Physical wellness involves maintaining a healthy body and seeking care when needed. Physical health is maintained through good nutrition, regular exercise, avoiding harmful habits, making informed and responsible decisions about health, and seeking medical assistance when necessary.
Emotional Wellness[edit | edit source]
Emotional wellness pertains to understanding, managing, and expressing one's feelings in a constructive manner. It also involves the ability to cope with stress and develop skills that help foster resilience.
Intellectual Wellness[edit | edit source]
Intellectual wellness refers to engaging in creative and stimulating mental activities to expand knowledge and skills. It encourages active participation in scholastic, cultural, and community activities.
Social Wellness[edit | edit source]
Social wellness focuses on developing a sense of connection, belonging, and a well-developed support system. It emphasizes the interdependence between others and nature.
Spiritual Wellness[edit | edit source]
Spiritual wellness allows one to develop a set of values that help seek meaning and purpose in human existence. It is not necessarily linked to a particular religious belief but involves the peace and harmony derived from an inner balance.
Occupational Wellness[edit | edit source]
Occupational wellness is about gaining personal satisfaction and enrichment from one’s work, which includes choosing a career that is consistent with one's personal values, goals, and lifestyle.

Efforts to promote health and wellness include policies and programs that facilitate access to health care, improve public spaces to encourage physical activity, and provide educational resources to help individuals make healthier choices.
