Henry D. Messer
Henry D. Messer (1927–2014) was an American LGBT rights activist and a prominent figure in the fight for LGBT rights in the United States. He was a co-founder of the Triangle Foundation, which later became Equality Michigan, an organization dedicated to achieving equality and securing legal protections for LGBT individuals in the state of Michigan.

Henry D. Messer was born in 1927. He pursued a career in medicine, earning his medical degree and becoming a neurosurgeon. His medical career was distinguished, but he is best known for his activism in the LGBT community.

Messer's activism began in earnest after he retired from his medical career. He was deeply involved in the LGBT rights movement and worked tirelessly to combat discrimination and homophobia. In 1991, he co-founded the Triangle Foundation with Jeffrey Montgomery, an organization that provided support and advocacy for LGBT individuals in Michigan.
The Triangle Foundation was instrumental in addressing issues such as hate crimes, HIV/AIDS awareness, and legal advocacy for LGBT rights. Under Messer's leadership, the organization grew in influence and eventually merged with Michigan Equality to form Equality Michigan in 2010.
