Herba scutellaria barbatae
Herba Scutellaria Barbatae is a species of flowering plant in the Lamiaceae family, commonly known as barbat skullcap or simply skullcap. It is native to East Asia and is used in traditional Chinese medicine.

Herba Scutellaria Barbatae is a perennial herb that grows to a height of 30-60 cm. The leaves are lanceolate and the flowers are blue-purple, blooming from June to September. The plant prefers moist, well-drained soil and can grow in both full sun and partial shade.
Traditional Medicine[edit | edit source]
In traditional Chinese medicine, Herba Scutellaria Barbatae is known as Ban Zhi Lian (半枝莲). It is used to clear heat, remove toxins, promote blood circulation, and reduce swelling. It is often used in the treatment of cancer, hepatitis, and inflammation.
Pharmacology[edit | edit source]
Studies have shown that Herba Scutellaria Barbatae contains flavonoids, diterpenoids, and phenylethanoid glycosides. These compounds have been found to have anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, and anti-tumor effects. However, more research is needed to fully understand the pharmacological properties of this plant.
