- Hillsboro is a city located in Jefferson County, Missouri, United States. It is the county seat of Jefferson County. The city is part of the St. Louis Metropolitan Area and is approximately 40 miles south of St. Louis.

- Hillsboro was originally called Monticello, and under the latter name was platted in 1839, and named after the plantation home of President Thomas Jefferson. The name Hillsboro was adopted in 1856.
Geography[edit | edit source]
- Hillsboro is located at 38°13′56″N 90°33′48″W. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.65 square miles, all land.

- As of the census of 2010, there were 2,821 people, 1,020 households, and 689 families residing in the city.
