Hilo

Hilo is the largest city and census-designated place (CDP) in Hawaii County, Hawaii, which is located on the Island of Hawaii. The city is the county seat of Hawaii County and is situated in the District of South Hilo. The population was 43,263 according to the 2010 census.

Hilo's location on the eastern side of the Island of Hawaii (Big Island) has led to its development as the hub of commerce and trade for the island. The city's history is marked by the influence of the sugar industry, which was the primary economic driver for the region for many years. The city is also known for its significant events such as the destructive tsunamis in 1946 and 1960.

Hilo is located on the eastern side of the Island of Hawaii. It is bordered to the north by the Pacific Ocean, to the west by the Hilo Bay, and to the south and east by mountains. The city's climate is classified as a tropical rainforest climate, with substantial rainfall throughout the year.
