Founded by Conrad Hilton in May 1919, the corporation is now led by Christopher J. Nassetta and is headquartered in Tysons Corner, Virginia, United States. The foundation of Hilton Worldwide can be traced back to when Conrad Hilton purchased his first hotel, the Mobley Hotel, in Cisco, Texas, in 1919. Over the years, Hilton expanded his empire by acquiring more hotels and eventually established the Hilton Hotels Corporation in 1946. The company made history in 1947 by becoming the first hotel chain to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange. In the following decades, Hilton continued to grow through acquisitions and the development of new hotels, including the introduction of the first hotel to bear the Hilton name outside the United States in Puerto Rico in 1949.
